Wow!
Oh, sorry, I thought you said pole dancer!
i worked the election yesterday, here in california, poll worker, from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. it was fun and interesting, went pretty smoothly, nice day.
it was very depressing to come home, look at the news, and find that the republicans now control the senate.. .
do you think canada would take me?
Wow!

it seems like the society has been desperately seeking ways to cut costs and boost reviniew (jw.org, kingdom hall programs, etc) over the past four or five years.
is this because donations are actually down?
or have they been preparing themselves for these lawsuits?
as many as the ATM machines at the assemblies can spew out
my grandfather only had a third grade education and knew little about the bible when jws called on him.
he was a different breed of jw than those of modern times.
he truly cared about people and would give them the shirt off his back.
Its a shame that he was plagued with so much mental anguish in the end.....My heart goes out to you...Thank you for remembering the man he was, he deserves that.
this is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.

@Sir82
Good for the Spanish!!! They always seemed to be left out like the last kid to get picked for the kickball team.

Good call Londo....HIL ARIOUS
As for content, zone visits are typically a hype session for the particular country that they are referencing. In this instance, I believe its only the English speaking congregations of the US and its territories. That would mean that it will probably simply speak of the PROGRESS that the area has experienced similar to the Yearbook highlights of a certain land. Because it deals mainly with the preaching work, it may address changes in dealing with the inactive, irregular or manner in which the preaching work is effected. I agree with many here that there will DEFINITELY be some comment about contributions and "blessings" but do not expect any HUGE doctrinal changes......
sorry about the confused nature of the topic but my mom (who still goes to the kh meetings) said that there will be an "assembly" on sunday where there will be a prerecorded message or talk of some sort and that it will only be half a day and won't need to bring lunch.
anyone else have heard of these or gone to one?.
i know they are changing a lot of things.
Yep, its the Zone visit for the US English....or is it the Regional visit? Anyway, live action on Saturday November 8 at 3:00pm eastern...Recorded and edited version on Sunday November 9 and because it is a recording, apparently depends on preference of elders as to the time....
ok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .
.
Personally, I liked the chicken sandwiches, the danishes, and the pudding....didn't care much for the hoagies or the fruit bags...the Shasta cola which morphed to Sunnyside or Cragmont..never measured up to the real "soda" The Circuit Assemblies used to have real breakfast made by real people...that was nice too. Other than that.....can't think of much. Have always been in wierd congregations filled with self-important climbers and socially inept people too worried about what others thought.
oh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).
How do you indoctrinate a good JW kid? The article should have stated what worked for people of my generation.....
A belt....
A hot wheel track...
A switch....
Guilt....
Comparison.....
Fear....
Isolation....
and my personal favorite..."Get out of MY house!"
i was talking to an uber dub friend last night who lives in the san diego area.
he knew nothing of the $13.5 million dollar law suit.
when i tried to tell him that this is a systemic problem, and that this could perhaps be the tip of the ice burgh.
I think Duran Duran said it best in their song....
"O, O, Oblivious...."
tv.jw.org is still on october programming.
what happened, did jehovah forget to turn in the script?.
.
Ummm, daylight savings?
